Digital Transition in 2009? Don’t Worry. You Have Atlantic Broadband


As you may have heard, all U.S. television broadcasters must switch their transmissions from analog to digital by the end of the day on February 17, 2009, as required by federal law.

What Does This Mean to Me as an Atlantic Broadband Customer?

As long as all your televisions are connected to Atlantic Broadband Video service, you will continue to receive all your favorite local channels without any disruption. We've got you covered.

Don't Let Your Other TVs Get Left Out

If you have one or more televisions receiving broadcast signals via "rabbit ears" or an antenna, you will need to get it connected to an active Atlantic Broadband outlet before February 17, 2009. There is no extra monthly fee to connect a cable-ready TV into an Atlantic Broadband outlet. If you do not have an active outlet available nearby, please contact your local Atlantic Broadband office for assistance.

What about Digital Video? Do I Need to Get It To Continue Watching Local Channels?

You do not need to have Digital service in order to continue receiving local channels after February 17, 2009. You may want to consider Digital service if you are interested in the greatest selection of movies, sports, news and kids programming available.

Do I need to Buy a New TV?

No. As long as your TV sets are connected to an active Atlantic Broadband outlet, you are fine.

Do I need a Special New Converter Device?

Absolutely not. If you have a TV that is not already connected to Atlantic Broadband service, the easiest thing to do is plug this TV into an active Atlantic Broadband outlet.

What is all this I Hear about Rebate Coupons?

Rebate coupons are only necessary for people with older TVs who do not have either cable or satellite service. They will need a special digital converter box to continue receiving over-the-air broadcast signals after February 17, 2009. This rebate coupon program is being run by the U.S. government. It is important to note that Atlantic Broadband customers do not need this coupon in order to continue to enjoy their local channels after February 17. 2009.
